Getting your kids to eat their recommended daily intake of 5 a day can be a nightmare, I’m no stranger to this I’m afraid. My little boy Sky is 3 and he’d much rather eat sweets and crisps all day than any fruit or vegetables icon sad 5 a day for Children Getting them to Eat it! apple fries 300x221 5 a day for Children Getting them to Eat it!Apply fries! I went on holiday last year to Spain and as I came back I noticed the Burger King there served apple fries as an alternative menu option to their fries, which I thought was brilliant. Admitedly there’s not many calories in the apple fries, so they aren’t the most filling snack replacement but I thought it was an awesome way to get them to eat apples! And they think they are eating fries – brilliant. I even put them in to little container, it makes them more prone to eat them I find, quick and easy to grab snack.

green giant sweetcorn 300x263 5 a day for Children Getting them to Eat it!Green Giant Sweet Corn The Green Giant has been a lifesaver for me, ever since the advert Sky has been obsessed with eating Green Giant Sweetcorn as he thinks it’s going to turn him in to a big green giant! Aren’t kids the sweetest.

He’s even been telling his friends about it – I always include a side of sweetcorn with his evening meal now – worked a treat, and they’re delicious.

carrot mash 300x225 5 a day for Children Getting them to Eat it!Carrot Mash! This is my own personal favourite concoction that I come up with. I make mash style potatos, but with carrots and mash it in to the potato, this is great for disguising the carrot in to the mash and I call it “special” mash, so he gets all excited about having it, bless him. 1. Mine love make your own pizza. I buy pizza bases and sauce (sometimes I make the sauce with hidden puréed veg) then I cut up a bit of ham and chicken, plus peppers, mushrooms, pineapple, tomatoes, peas, beans, sweetcorn or anything else I can find. Then I challenge them to make an interesting or colourful picture on the pizza. They always pile on tons of veggies – then because they have made it they eat the lot….
